To make 4L (1 gallon), you'll need: 12 black tea bags 280g white sugar 1 SCOBY (starter liquid) 3L cold water 1L boiled water

Boil the kettle for your 1L of water to add to your sugar. I like to use brown sugar, but you can use plain white too!

Thoroughly mix the sugar and 1L of boiling water

Now add in your 12 tea bags and make sure they're completely submerged

Remove all the tea bags after 20 minutes. Then add your SCOBY and any starter liquid to the sweet tea mix

Now store the kombucha in whatever large glass or plastic container you like. I prefer glass as I hate plastic. You do you though!

...and now we wait. For 14 days. Keep the container covered with whatever material, secured with a rubber band to keep critters out!

After 14 days you can now drink your kombucha. This is your unflavoured  "first ferment" (1F)

but kombucha is more fun when it's flavoured..

BECAUSE BUBBLES!

Grab yourself some round fliptop airtight bottles, add in whatever fruit combination you want, and add a 1 tsp of sugar. Leave for 3 days, "burping" the bottles once a day

Enjoy your booch! if you're feeling extra saucy, you can create your own kombucha cocktails too by using your booch as your base and adding your fave liqours!
