- The Bangla Road Boxing Stadium is a popular attraction in Patong for those who enjoy watching Muay Thai fights. The stadium has a capacity of around 1,000 spectators and hosts fights every night of the week, starting around 9 pm and lasting until midnight. The stadium has a lively atmosphere with cheering crowds and a ring announcer who provides commentary throughout the fights. The fights are typically between local and international fighters. Tickets for the fights can be purchased at the stadium or through tour operators, with prices ranging from around 1,000 THB to 2,000 THB ($30 to $60 USD) depending on the seating area. The stadium also offers VIP packages which include front-row seats and access to a private bar and lounge.
- Surfing and bodyboarding are popular activities at Patong Beach, particularly during the monsoon season from May to October. Businesses such as Saltwater Dreaming (website: saltwater-dreaming.com, contact: +66 93 686 7822) offer surfing lessons and equipment rental.
- Patong is close to several Muay Thai gyms, such as Tiger Muay Thai (website: tigermuaythai.com, contact: +66 76 367 071) and Phuket Top Team (website: phukettopteam.com, contact: +66 93 734 9829), where you can train in the national sport of Thailand. Getting to them both will involve you taking a tuk tuk to Chalong, or a motorbike. The road options to get to the Muay Thai camps can be you going along the coast through Kata and Karon (stunning but busy with tourists all over the road), or via the “mountain pass”. This second option is really fun, but I can’t stress how dangerous Phuket Roads can be in the wet. I’m not your Dad, but you’re going to need to slow right down as you go down the hill. Accidents here are..not good.
- Zipline adventures, such as the Flying Hanuman (website: flyinghanuman.com, contact: +66 76 323 966) and Jungle Xtrem Adventures Park (website: junglextrem.com, contact: +66 93 782 2602), offer a thrilling way to explore the jungle canopy. They can pick you up from your hotel as well.
- ATV tours, such as those offered by Phuket ATV (website: phuketatvtour.com, contact: +66 76 280 300) and ATV Phuket Tours (website: atvphukettour.com, contact: +66 62 938 5888), provide an adrenaline-filled way to explore the island’s interior.

- During the high season from November to April, Patong can be crowded, particularly during major events such as Songkran (Thai New Year) in April. It is recommended to visit during the shoulder season in May or October for smaller crowds and better prices.
- English is widely spoken in Patong, particularly in tourist areas, but it can be helpful to learn a few basic Thai phrases for getting around and interacting with locals. Don’t forget to wai and smile – it will get you the biggest smile back from the Thai person you’ve interacting with!
